We recently had the absolute honor of chatting with activist and model Jacob Bixenman, who we have personally admired and dreamt of interviewing since the beginnings of our page! Our conversation was centered around his experience being in the online spotlight as a fairly shy person, working creatively during such a competitive and fleeting age as well as managing self-criticism and trying to not weigh himself in comparison to other creators. As the discussion went on, Jacob asked us about navigating the pandemic as Gen-Z and showed us how the influencers we look up to are similarly struggling, how in the future we end up being celebrated for the same things that once made us self-conscious and how significant of an impact the smallest platforms can make, as “meaning more to fewer people is ultimately more important than meaning a little bit to a lot of people.” Sharing back and forth with input on such timely topics gave us the clarity and reassurance that we and many people needed. We encourage everyone to take in even just a bit of our talk with Jacob because we were left with life-giving enlightenment and the opportunity is something we’ll forever cherish. Many thanks to @jacobbix for being so kind and honest and to @elisecastro_ for greatly helping us do the interview. The video is below and, as Jacob emphasized, remember to trust and respect yourself as you are.
